Brother of murdered teenager enters guilty plea

The 19-year-old brother of murdered Amanda Selby, 15, has admitted to killing his sister in a North Wales caravan.

Amanda was found dead at the Ty Mawr Holiday Park in Town on July 31st.

Matthew Selby was due to stand trial for her murder this month, but appeared at Mold Crown Court to enter a guilty plea to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. He appeared via video link from HMP Berwyn, where he is currently being held.

Amanda’s cause of death has been revealed as asphyxia, as a result of neck compression and external airway obstruction and crush asphyxia.

Her family paid tribute to the school-girl, saying:

Amanda was a loving daughter and granddaughter - she was caring, thoughtful, liked to help others and very much loved.

Kamiza Dojo, a Jiu Jitsu club where Amanda and her mother had been a part of for many years said:

Our club is saddened to hear the tragic news that one of our students, Amanda Selby, has lost her life while on holiday with her family. The Kamiza Dojo family is truly devastated by this awful news. We are truly heartbroken, Amanda will be sorely missed.

Sentencing will take place on March 18th.
