After being met by fierce resistance from Ukraine in a bid to protect their capitol city, Kyiv, it seems that Putin has sent in heavy weaponry and reinforcements.

8.31 p.m: Over 2000 detained for protesting


2,692 people have been arrested in Russia for attending anti-war protests in the last 3 days.

8.28 p.m: Germany sending supplies to Ukraine


Germany are said to be supplying Ukraine with 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 Stinger surface-to-air missiles.

7.54 p.m: Russian spokesperson unashamedly attempts to place blame on Ukraine for civilian casualties


The Russian ministry of defence has attempted to place blame on Ukraine for arming civilians, saying that ‘accidents and casualties’ will come from handing out weapons to those trying to protect their country.

Ukrainians have began to take down street signs in a bid to confuse Russian troops.

Russia has closed its airspace for Romanian aircraft due to ’unfriendly decisions’ to ban Russian airlines from its airspace.

6.38 p.m: Ukrainian dam destroyed


Russian troops have destroyed a dam in Ukraine‘s Kherson Region.

Reuters reports the details from Moscow:

Ukraine cut off the fresh water supply to Crimea by damming a canal that had supplied 85% of the peninsula’s needs before Moscow annexed Crimea in 2014. The Soviet-era canal was built to channel water from the River Dnieper to arid areas of Ukraine’s Kherson region and Crimea.

6.26 p.m: 19 dead in attack


19 Ukrainians have been killed as Russia launch attack in the Donetsk region. A further 73 people have been injured in the shelling.
