Russia invades Ukraine: Day 9 Live Updates

9 days ago, Russian troops started to invade Ukraine in what can only be described as a vicious, unprovoked declaration of war. We have re-entered a time in history that we thought had been left behind, lessons have not been learnt and time will only tell what will happen next. Follow live updates here, as the Ukrainian people continue to shock the entire world with their bravery, courage and sacrifice. (EET)


6.44 p.m: Missile fragments found in Zelensky’s yard


President Zelenskyy replied to the discovery saying: Missed me.




6.41 p.m: 100 people feared trapped under rubble


Borodyanka, in the Kyiv region, has experienced heavy attacks- with 100 people kow feared trapped under rubble of their houses, Ukraine’s state emergency service has said.

6.33 p.m: Latest photos show damage to Kharkiv.




5.22 p.m: Mariupol under attack


Mariupol is under fire and has issued an urgent call for military help, the mayor revealed.

4.01 p.m: Civilian death toll


331 civilians have so far been killed since the invasion began 9 days ago, and a further 675 civilians injured.

12.41 p.m: Deaths and injuries announced as Ukrainian.

12.39 p.m: Nuclear Powerplant death toll


The attack on the Nuclear Powerplant in the early hours of this morning saw 3 dead and 2 injured, it has been announced. As of right now, it is unclear if the deaths and injuries are Russian or Ukrainian.

12.17 p.m: Belarusian troops will not join fight


Alexander Lukashenko, the Belarusian leader, has announced that its armed forces will not join the invasion of Ukraine. This, however, should only be taken lightly. As we know, missiles have been launched from Belarus since the beginning of the war.


12.13 p.m: Mykolaiv under attack


Russian military have entered Mykolaiv, a city home to an estimated half of a million people. It is an hour away from Kherson, which Russian officials are alledging is under their full control.

11.29 a.m: Fear rises as Belarus threaten to join war


Fear is rising across the world, as reports are coming in that Russia may be attempting to give Belarus a reason to join the invasion. Unconfirmed reports alledge that Belarus paratroopers have already recieved orders to cross the border into Ukraine.

11.24 a.m: Chernihiv death toll rises


Local officials have revealed that the Chernihiv death toll has risen to 47, an update on the previous 33 reported yesterday.

11.16 a.m: Nuclear Powerplant attacked overnight


Last night, the world sat and watched as Russian troops launched a terrifying attack

on Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. We witnessed first hand Russian soldiers open fire at brave firefighters who were doing nothing but trying to protect the world from a nuclear disaster.

We have woken up this morning to the news that Russian defence officials have placed the blame of last nights attack upon Ukraine military in what they describe as a ‘monstrous provocation’. We know, from what we witnessed last night, that this is far from the reality of what unfolded. We know that Russian troops put not only Ukraine, but the entire of Europe, in harms way.
