Teenage murderer named after Bute Park attack


Victim: Dr Gary Jenkins died 2 weeks after the attack

The teenager who murdered Dr Gary Jenkins in Bute Park, Cardiff, has been named.

Dionne Timms-Williams, who was just 16 at the time of the murder, has been officially named by South Wales Police after her identity was previously protected by a court order under Section 45 of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999.

The assault happened on July 20th last year, which left Dr Gary Jenkins unconscious, partly exposed and covered in blood. He passed away two weeks later in hospital.

Having already pleaded guilty to manslaughter, robbery and assault occasioning actual bodily hard of a man who tried to intervene, Timms-WIlliams, along with 25-year-old Jason Edwards and 36-year-old Lee Strickland, were found guilty of his murder.


CCTV audio footage revealed that after the attack, Timms-Williams chillingly said: "Yeah I needed that..."

Sentencing for all three is expected to take place on March 25th.
